This is a double experiment. First the image above was generated by means of a Microsoft Word VBA macro and then published to WordPress using the standard Blog Post command. Second, this is the first posting of a series where I will present some experiments I am doing on the basis of the Zhou Yi (Yi Jing) and the Tai Xuan Jing (the Chinese classic books on the combination of various types of “lines”). Beyond the solid and the once and twice broken lines I added a fourth, a three-times broken line to complement and complete the others. It is interesting to see how the more numerous and complex combinations arising from the combinations contain the figures of the hexagrams and tetra-grams as well as very suggestive approximations to the same.
